Supporting Government Planning in Building Climate Resilience

The key task of this project is to develop the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience of Nepal. The preparation of the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience is a key process towards concretizing the main objective of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) to initiate transformation in the approach to development planning, budgeting, and investments so as to include considerations of climate resilience. The Strategic Program should outline the governments agreed long-term vision to achieve a climate resilient development trajectory and a critical path to get there. This should include consideration of vulnerable economic sectors, specific social groups (including women, youth, indigenous peoples, and local communities), and ecosystems. The Strategic Program will summarize the country driven strategic approach to climate resilience, building on related relevant efforts, and define the underlying investment program proposed for PPCR support. Nepal has been selected as one of the countries to participate in the PPCR, which is a part of the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF), a multi-donor Trust Fund within the Climate Investment Funds.
