The main objective of this study is to integrate flood simulation model, remotely sensed data with topographic and socio-economic data in a GIS environment for flood risk mapping in the flood plain of Kankai River in Nepal. Identification and mapping of flood prone areas are valuable for risk reduction. The results obtained from GIS modeling were then verified with social approach through vulnerability assessment.
