Glaciers of Nepal —Glacier Distribution in the Nepal Himalaya with Comparisons to the Karakoram Range
This report is a part of the publication Glaciers of Asia (Williams, R.S., Jr., and Ferrigno, J.G., eds., 2010, Glaciers of Asia: U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper 1386–F, 349 p.). In this paper, the results of a preliminary application of Landsat images to the analysis of glaciological characteristics in the Nepal Himalaya and the Karakoram Range are presented. The study concludes that Landsat and other high-resolution satellite images are an invaluable tool for glaciological studies in Nepal.
