The project supports community forestry in four districts of the central region. It focuses on increasing forest density and reducing deforestation and degradation. It is raising awareness on the potential benefits and challenges of carbon trading along withworking in existing community groups (including CFUGs) in adaptation and mitigation measures both in trees in private land and community based forests. The project also supports the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation for REDD strategy development and preparation of R-Plan. It supports civil society groups in raising their awareness on climate change issues related to forestry and to build their capacity to carry out negotiations related to carbon markets and equitable sharing of benefits.
