Initial National Communication to the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

Under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), non-Annex I countries including Nepal are required to submit national communications to report the steps they are taking or envisage undertaking to implement the Convention. All national communications from non-Annex I parties, including that of Nepal follow the UNFCCC guidelines in terms of scope and methodology. This document provides an overview of national circumstances on the basis of which they will address climate change and its adverse impacts, describes the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Mitigation Options.

Development and Climate Change in Nepal: Focus on Water Resources and Hydropower

This report presents the integrated case study for Nepal carried out under an OECD project on Development and Climate Change. The report is structured around a three-tier framework. First, recent climate trends and climate change scenarios for Nepal are assessed, and key sectoral impacts are identified and ranked along multiple indicators to establish priorities for adaptation. Second, donor portfolios in Nepal are analyzed to examine the proportion of donor activities affected by climate risks.
