Climate Change Impact on River Dynamics of the Bagmati Basin, Kathmandu Nepal

Rivers are significant geomorphological agent, which shows diversity of form and behavior and quickly respond to disturbances acting against their system. The Bagmati River of the Kathmandu Valley originates from eastern hill Nagarkot in Sudal is the 7th order drainage and stretches about 51 km and flows over the Valley covering 678 km2 of watershed. This river have been suffering from unmanaged urbanization and industrialization, growing population pressure on catchment of river causes destruction of natural phenomenon of river.

Gender Perspective: Integrating Energy Resource Use into Climate Change Adaptation

The study is an attempt to establish a relation between climate change and prevalent energy resource in the study site as well as it studies the consequent adoption strategies within the community taking special note of the gender perspective. The study has been carried out in the Siddhi village of Chitwan District of Nepal where people are mostly dependent on the traditional biomass for the energy requirement and the roles and responsibilities regarding energy resource management are different genderwise.

(ToR) Preparation of the Climate Change Strategy and Framework for Climate Change Fund

The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Environment (MoE) has received support from the Embassy of Denmark in Nepal to implement climate change activities. The MoE prepared, through this support, the status report while participating the 15th session of the Conference of the Parties to UNFCCC and 5th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties (CMP) to the KP. In addition, this funding was also used to prepare and publish the Status of Climate Change in Nepal.

Climate Change Talks in Remote Mid Hill District Nepal

On February 17, Nepal Climate Change Knowledge Management Center organized Climate Change Awareness Program at Diktel, headquarter of remote mid hill district Khotang in eastern region of Nepal. Newly constructed earthen road has connected Diktel with low land urban area. According to the report on Climate Change Vulnerability Mapping for Nepal published by Government of Nepal, Khotang district is at very high risk from Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF).
