Revisiting Community Based Adaptation

Community-based adaptation emerged as a unique theory and approach to address adaptation deficit in developing countries. The evolution of community based adaptation clearly shows that it is advancing well and has potentials to provide strong basis for implementing adaptation priorities in developing countries. There are however issues and challenges around its scale of operation and gaps in wider institutionalization and scaling up within the mainstream development.

Micro and Mini Hydro Technologies-Vulnerability and Adaptation to Cimate Change

This publication has tried to highlight- how micro/mini hydro can support in building resilient capacity of vulnerable population; how promotion of Mini/micro hydro can be integrated through local development plan to support the national climate change initiatives. It also discuss on the possible adaptive approaches that can be integrated in the project cycle of the technology promotion

Comparative study of Effective management practices for enhancing agricultural production system in Nepal in the context of climate change

It is anticipated that conventional agricultural practices do not warrant sustainable agricultural production under more extreme and potentially unfavorable climatic conditions associated with climate change. Therefore, organic agricultural practices are needed to enhance inherent soil fertility, to increase future agricultural production and local food security. The organic farming systems are supposed to be ecological friendly and sustainable under changing climate.

Community-Based Climate Change Adaptation For Building Local Resilience In The Himalayas

This paper (a) reviews an observed and perceived climate change in Nepal, (b) discusses impacts of climate change on ecosystems, biodiversity, agriculture and human wellbeing, and (c) offers, by drawing upon experiences of an NGO, Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD), some community-based mitigation and adaptation techniques for curbing challenges resulting from climate change. The local level examples shared in this paper can be useful for other countries that share similar threats and sociocultural and political challenges.

Exploring Existing Local Adaptation Practices and Potential Strategic Options to Address Climate Change Impact on Biodiversity and its Dependents of Nepal

The main objective of this study is to explore the existing and potential adaptation (technological and institutional) options to combat with climate change impact on forest and biodiversity resources and its dependents of Nepal.

Adapting cropping systems to climate change in Nepal: a cross-regional study of farmers’ perception and practices

Climate change is a global challenge that has a particularly strong effect on developing countries such as Nepal, where adaptive capacity is low and where agriculture, which is highly dependent on climatic factors, is the main source of income for the majority of people. The nature and extent of the effects of climate change on rural livelihoods varies across Nepal in accordance with its highly diverse environmental conditions.

Gender Perspective: Integrating Energy Resource Use into Climate Change Adaptation

The study is an attempt to establish a relation between climate change and prevalent energy resource in the study site as well as it studies the consequent adoption strategies within the community taking special note of the gender perspective. The study has been carried out in the Siddhi village of Chitwan District of Nepal where people are mostly dependent on the traditional biomass for the energy requirement and the roles and responsibilities regarding energy resource management are different genderwise.
